This is antique Keris ceremonial Keris / Dagger from Java, Indonesia is known for its distinct blade (flowing water) and intricate hilt designs.
Earliest Keris weaponry go back to the 10th century. They are recognised as coming into existence around 1361 AD in the Kingdom Majapahit.
A keris can be divided into three parts: Blade (bilah or wilah / Hilt (hulu) / Sheath (warangka). Keris are carved in meticulous detail and made from various materials: iron, precious or rare types of wood, gold, or ivory.
A keris’s aesthetic value covers the dhapur – the form and design of the blade of there are about 60 variants. The pamor is the pattern of metal alloy decoration on the blade – and can have up to 250 variants.
