A nicely carved and aesthetic wood cockerel marriage offering. Prospective son-in-laws were traditionally expected to carve a cockerel for their father-in-law as a mark of respect to show their intent to marry the daughter.
This carved cockerel is in good condition considering its usage and age. A corner on the base stand is missing.
