Thepphanom refers to an angel or deity, a temple protector and guardian often kneeling on both knees with hands at the wai position, praying or offering respect.

Theppanom also refers to moves in Muay Thai and traditional Thai dance.

This Thai Kneeling Theppanom statue is exquisitely carved, painted, and bejeweled by an artisan schooled by the renowned Thai master craftsman Khun Praphan Kantiyat.

Khun Praphan started carving Buddha statues over 40 years ago. This statue’s meticulous and precise ornamental detail results from his research and historical knowledge of ancient Buddha carvings. The sculptures replicate original antique statues exhibited in museums and temples of Southeast Asia.

This statue is a handmade replica and will differ slightly from the original antique Buddha. It is exported with a Permit under a License provided by The Thailand Fine Arts Department.

Statues are carved from Acacia (Monkey) wood. Before finishing, partially carved statues undergo hot room treatment for seven days to rid the wood of borers and insects.
